Appointment on two school expansion projects

Pellings LLP have been appointed by LB Merton as lead architects for the expansion of two primary schools. The appointment was made through the London Construction Programme (LCP) Framework and LB Merton are the latest of a number of London Local Authorities to procure their expansion projects through the LCP's Architects and associated supply chain (education projects) Lot. Four expansion projects in total were put out to Tender by the borough, and all are set to begin shortly with a view to completion for the 2014 school year.

The commission comes hot on the heels of Pellings appointment last month to undertake the remodelling of seven Primary schools for LB Lewisham as part of their four-year Primary Places Programme.

Pellings' Head of Architecture, Neill Werner, was delighted with the appointment. He said, "We are seeing an increasing trend of Local Authorities seeking to maximise the use of their existing schools through remodelling and expansion programmes. This pragmatic approach is enabling them to capitalise on fast track solutions such as modular construction, to quickly and cost effectively meet demand in their communities."
