Foxfield Primary School in Woolwich goes from 'Inadequate' to Ofsted 'Outstanding' within just 16 months.

Foxfield Primary School, a school on which Pellings acted as Architect, Town Planner and Employer's Agent, has become just the 5th school in the country to go directly from an Ofsted rating of 'Inadequate' to 'Outstanding'.

In May 2014 the school was given the lowest possible rating by the Government body and was placed in special measures. Following this, the school launched an action plan with the local council and formed a partnership with the neighbouring Woodhill Primary in an effort to turn things around. The school's latest Ofsted inspection report, published in November 2015, found the school to be outstanding in all categories examined in, placing it in the top 25% for primary education in the country.

The new school building, which was built on the site of the former school which had become unfit for purpose, has provided an inspirational and contemporary learning environment for its pupils. Piyush, a pupil at the school, said "The classrooms are much bigger and outside there are lots of places to play. It is easier to learn now our classes are quiet".
