Pellings project shortlisted at Sustainable Housing Awards 2012

Today's edition of Inside Housing reported that Pellings innovative project at 100 Princedale Road for Octavia Housing has been shortlisted in two categories at The Sustainable Housing Awards 2012.

These are:

  • Sustainable Smaller Housing Retrofit Project of the year
  • Low Energy Social Housing Project of the Year

The Awards are organised by Inside Housing magazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing, and celebrate the most forward thinking sustainable housing schemes in the industry.

The 100 Princedale Road project was the first retrofit project in the UK to be certified to the Passivhaus EnerPHit refurbishment standard, (an ultra low energy house that requires little energy for space heating or cooling), with the annual energy consumption for all space heating and cooling no more than 15 kWh/m2 per year. The average UK home uses 130kWh of energy per m2 per year for heating and cooling.

The trophies will be presented at an "eco" awards ceremony where the menu has been selected with minimum food miles and all the main ingredients have come from across the UK. This takes place on Friday 19 October and representatives from Pellings will be attending.
